About The Library

Mission Statement

The mission of the Oak Harbor Public Library is to serve as a center for information retrieval, cultural and intellectual pursuits, self-education, and recreational reading by providing a facility, services, and materials which meet the needs of the community.

Our Library

The Oak Harbor Public Library, established in 1908 by the Oak Harbor Literary and Social Club, is a municipal library serving the Benton-Carroll-Salem School District. The library operates under a board of trustees; six members who are appointed to four year terms by the mayor of Oak Harbor.  Regular meetings of the board are held the third Tuesday of each month.  Major funding of the library is provided by the Public Library Fund, which distributes 2.22% of the state's general revenue fund to Ohio's public libraries.
